Professor Mark Brown is Ireland's first Chair in Digital Learning and Director of the National Institute for Digital Learning (NIDL) at Dublin City University (DCU). Since Mark’s arrival at DCU from New Zealand at the beginning of 2014, he has led the development of DCU Connected for online distance students played a leading role in the University’s partnership with FutureLearn. He is an EDEN Fellow and serves on the Supervisory Board of the European Association for Distance Teaching Universities (EADTU). In 2017, the Commonwealth of Learning recognised Mark as a world leader in Open, Online and Distance Learning. Mark continues to have strong links “down under” and serves on the Executive Committee of the Open and Distance Learning Association of Australia (ODLAA). In 2019, Professor Brown was Chair of the ICDE World Conference on Online Learning which DCU hosted in Dublin.
